A Miami City Council meeting was recently held at City Hall on Dinner Key. Mayor Francis Suarez, Keon Hardemon, Ken Russell, Willy Gort, Joe Carollo, Manolo Reyes, Emilio Gonzalez, Victoria Mendez and City Clerk Todd Hannon. Meeting commenced at 9am sharp with the pledge of allegiance. The first resolution to pass was a lease agreement with the City of Miami and a Delaware Corporation and LLC by the name of 33 Downtown to be used for office space in a 12,500 square foot facility at 33 SW Second Ave in Miami to be used as location for the cities Department of Community and Economic Development. The city will pay close to $21,000. per month for a rental fee with a 3% increase yearly. A resolution passed for a grant not exceeding $120,000. for station transit development to Typologies subject to budgetary approval. An ordinance amending chapter 31 in the Miami code book will allow for a more streamlined process by transferring oversight of business tax receipt process from from the finance department to the city manager with respect to vehicles for hire. No action was taken. Keon Hardemon sponsored a resolution condemning President Donald J. Trumps statements regarding immigrants from Haiti and other countries. Commission has directed him to provide a copy of the resolution to the President. City to pay a $12,000,000. settlement to 346 NW 29th Street LLC without any admission of guilt on behalf of the city and or its officers. Many amendments were made with respect to future land use and zoning category. Code enforcement meeting scheduled for February 1st 2018.
